What is Trillium?
The Trillium Drug Program (TDP) offers prescription drug coverage for Ontarians with a valid Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) number. When you are enrolled with TDP, your deductible (the amount you pay before insurance coverage kicks in) is capped around 4% of your total income and divided up for each quarter (three month period). So, if your annual deductible is $1000, your quarterly deductible is $250.
Is Trillium for me?
You are eligible for the TDP if you have a valid OHIP number and you’re 25-64 years old without private insurance.
You are not eligible for TDP if you are already covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit program (i.e. Ontario Works).
If your household net income exceeds $66,000 and is not being used towards other high-cost recurring prescriptions, we recommend looking into private insurance options instead.
You should not apply for TDP if your household has another insurance plan that covers most or all of your household’s prescription drug costs.
How to apply

- Click on "Apply Now" under "I want to apply to the Trillium drug program"

How does Trillium work with Freddie?
Freddie wants to make PrEP affordable to everyone through our financial assistance program. We offer $100 in financial assistance for every 30 days of PrEP to help reduce your Trillium costs.
If you are not already on PrEP, your initial Freddie prescription will be for 30 days. This is important when selecting your start date for your application. If you are applying to Trillium solely to cover PrEP (i.e. not for any other prescription drugs), we recommend selecting your start date approximately 6-8 weeks from the day you're completing the form, as close to the first of the month as possible. For example, if you were filling out the form on November 15th we would recommend setting your start date to January 1st.
- You don't need to print off all nine pages of the application! Only print from the page titled "Trillium Drug Program Application Form" onwards.
- Make sure you send your application as a single document instead of separate files for each page, otherwise your application can be delayed or rejected.

Limits to the quantity of drugs issued through the Trillium Drug Program
From August 1 to February 28: You can receive up to a 90-day supply at one time.
From March 1: Your prescription may reduce in quantity due to Trillium policies. You might receive a smaller amount of pills, or see a split in how many pills are dispensed (1 bottle followed by 2 bottles; or 2 bottles followed by 1 bottle).
Please note that this would depend on your individual prescription schedule, total deductibles based on income or your issuing pharmacy, so we recommend reaching out to your issuing pharmacy for specific details.
