A Canada Post service began September 25th 2025. This service disruption will impact delivery of prescriptions for patients who rely on Canada Post for delivery.
We understand that this situation may raise concerns about receiving your prescriptions on time, but rest assured, we are prepared and taking proactive steps to ensure your health and medication needs are not disrupted.
Your well-being is our top priority, and we are committed to delivering your prescriptions without delays, regardless of the challenges posed by a postal strike.
Impact of a Canada Post Strike
Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees are suspended for items already in the postal network. No new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.
All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible once operations resume. However, processing and delivery may take some time to fully return to normal.
Will This Impact Me
If you receive your Freddie prescription via Canada Post, your prescription delivery will be impacted as a result of the strike.
As a result of the strike and general surge in use of alternative couriers, please note that pharmacies may not be able to fulfill requests for next-day delivery. If your prescription supply is running low, we encourage proactively reaching out to your prescribing pharmacy to confirm delivery options as soon as possible.
Our Commitment to Continuity
For patients who fill their prescription via our partner pharmacies, we will minimize any potential impact on your prescription deliveries through:
- Immediately shipping replacement packages if they were mid-transit before the strike took place. Note that patients impacted can expect additional details from pharmacy via email.
- Working with alternative couriers to ensure your prescriptions are delivered on time.
- Freddie will proactively issue prescriptions in 30 day supply as needed, to ensure continuity of care throughout this strike period.
If you have concerns about your delivery, please contact our Freddie Care Team by submitting a request here: Contact Freddie
What Can I Do?
Patients are still required to complete lab tests every three months. These check for HIV and STIs – which is important, because not every STI has symptoms – and check your kidney function. See steps below:
- Locate a lab near you and plan when you are going to complete your lab work.
- Tell us in your Freddie account when and where you’re getting your lab work done.
- Complete the self-assessment on your dashboard so we can ensure you’re not experiencing any side-effects.
- Go for lab work. Download the latest lab requisition from your Freddie account and take it to a lab near you. This routine lab work will check your creatinine levels and test for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis.
See our general guide on completing the refill process here: PrEP renewal process guide
We truly appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. While labor actions like these are beyond our control, we want to reassure you that we are fully prepared to meet your prescription needs. Our team is working tirelessly to ensure your health is never compromised.
Thank you for continuing to trust Freddie with your care!
