If you are a Freddie patient living in British Columbia and receive prescriptions for Descovy that are covered by Sunlife, you may receive a letter from Sunlife regarding your insurance coverage.
Please don't worry! This is a standard administrative request, and our team has a process to ensure your coverage for medication continues without interruption.
What is happening?
Sunlife has recently started asking some patients to provide extra documentation to confirm that they need Descovy and that it is not fully covered by British Columbia’s provincial drug plan.
Their goal is to have BC’s provincial plan cover the cost of Descovy and become the primary payer if patients are eligible under the provincial program.
What should I do if I get this letter?
If you receive this letter in the mail or via your insurance portal, do not attempt to fill out the paperwork yourself. Instead, follow these simple steps:
- Contact our partner pharmacy immediately: Within 24-48 hours of getting the letter. Reach out to the Affirming Care Pharmacy team directly to let us know you have received a Sunlife coverage letter.
- Let our team handle the paperwork: No action required from you. Our team will submit information on your behalf to obtain the necessary documentation for your insurance company.
- Keep your Descovy coverage active: Process complete! The pharmacy will keep the documentation securely on your file moving forward. This fulfills Sunlife's requirements and allows your Descovy coverage to remain active.
👍 Good to know: Your medication shipments will not be interrupted while we handle this for you. Our workaround process has a 100% success rate for patients who loop us in right away!
