We believe you should always have full control over your personal information. However, certain legal obligations of healthcare providers impact what happens to your medical records in cases of account deletion requests
What Gets Deleted Immediately
When you ask us to delete your account, we instantly deactivate your profile. This means:
- You will no longer be able to log in or access past portal activity.
- You will no longer receive communications from us.
What Happens to Your Medical Records
While your Freddie account profile is deactivated right away, your medical records (such as prescription history, clinical notes, and lab results) cannot be erased immediately.
By law, healthcare providers across Canada are required to retain patient medical records for a set period of time. This is a requirement of each province, made to ensure you always have access to your health history.
Once the required provincial retention period expires, your medical files are permanently destroyed.
