Freddie In-Person Care inside Affirming Care Pharmacy (Calgary)

Beginning March 13th 2025, Freddie patients in Calgary can now complete their initial and refill processes including consult, labs and prescription in one short visit inside our partner pharmacy, Affirming Care!

Location: Freddie Clinic inside the Affirming Care Pharmacy at 1900 11 St SE #100
Hours: Thursdays, 9am – 2pm (No appointment needed)
Bring: Your Alberta Health Care card

What to Expect:

  1. Walk in for a quick visit—no appointment required
  2. Complete your self-assessment and provide any necessary lab samples (blood, urine, or swabs)
  3. Meet with a clinician to review your results and get your prescription
  4. Get your medication right away at Affirming Care or have it sent to your preferred pharmacy instead—if prescribed.

If you can’t make it in person, you can still complete your refill virtually! Simply log into your account at app.gofreddie.com and click “Start” on your dashboard.

How it Works

1. Check-In
Upon arrival, check in at the clinic desk on the left and let our staff know you’re here for a walk-in appointment.

2. (for refill patients) Complete your Self-Assessment
Log into your Freddie account and complete your Self-Assessment by clicking “Start”. We recommend doing this before arriving at the clinic.

3. Lab Work: Routine STI Testing
As part of the appointment, you’ll be offered routine testing for oral, anal, and genital STI screening which consists of a urine sample and swab test. A clinician will perform any required bloodwork as part of your visit.

4. Clinical Consult
Your Freddie clinician will go over your self-assessment (if applicable), current medications, review any health changes, and answer any questions to ensure you have the support and information you need.

5. Receive Your Prescription
Once your consultation is complete, you can pick up your medication right away at Affirming Care—if prescribed—or have it sent to your preferred pharmacy instead.

The clinic is near the intersection of 11 St SE and 19 Ave SE, making it easily accessible by car or public transit.
Bus Routes: The clinic is accessible via Calgary Transit Bus Routes 24 and 302, with stops nearby.
Parking: There is free parking available in front of Affirming Care Pharmacy.

 

FAQs

  • Can I receive other Freddie medications (such as DoxyPEP) through this service?
    Yes! In addition to PrEP, you can get additional treatments through Freddie during your visit including DoxyPEP and medications for hair loss, erectile dysfunction, herpes, and premature ejaculation. For refilling patients, you can request DoxyPEP in your PrEP self-assessment.

    Note: The cost of your prescription for additional treatment options will depend on your pharmacy’s pricing, prescription length, and provincial regulations.

  • What do I need to bring?
    All you’ll need to bring is your Alberta Health Care card.
  • Can I come into the walk-in on a different day?
    Right now, we’re only offering walk-ins on Thursdays from 9am to 2pm.
  • What if I have never taken PrEP or used Freddie before?
    This walk-in service is available to all Freddie patients (new and existing) looking for an initial or refill on their PrEP prescription and other Freddie treatments. If you prefer a virtual process, you can begin the process online by signing up here.
  • Do you offer in-person/ walk-in refill services in other cities?
    At this time, we are only offering in-person refills in Calgary. Stay tuned as we expand to more cities! You can still complete your Freddie refills with us virtually by logging into your account at app.gofreddie.com
